In 2007, Italian fashion distributors Luxottica bought the company. The takeover contributed to a new luxury public perception of Oakley, being within the same ranks as Vogue and Ray Ban.

The Oakley Halftrack OX3109 are a salute to the world of BMX riding. The frame was designed with a bicycle in mind, with cutout shapes and differing sizes to give the glasses a very modern and edgy look. With ultra light stainless steel arms coated in Unobtainium for maximum grip, and a C-5 alloy for the front half, these glasses were amde for stabiliy and comfort. Coming in two sizes, an adjustable nose pad only adds to the comfort.

There are five metal compounds in the C-5 alloy, created for lightness and harderned durability. Being semi-rimless, these glasses allow the wearer to have an unobscured downwards view.

One of the many lens types able to be placed into the Oakley Halftrack OX3109 are scratch resistant, because a durable lens is really needed for a such a strong frame. An anti-glare coating can also be added to improve vision in harsh light and when using the computer. Water repellence and dust proofing can be added, and this allows for a perfectly clear view without annoying water droplets or small particles.
